There are a number of other programmes, projects and websites which provide ideas and approaches to teaching global citizenship through news and media. Some of these are listed below.

Global Express
Global Express is a teaching resource for teachers of 8-14 year olds on world events and global issues in the news. Each edition focuses on a topical issue and contains photocopiable pupil activity pages. Editions can be ordered and some can be viewed on line. Each edition gives details of curriculum links relating to the activities. Global Express is produced in the UK by the Development Education Project (DEP), Manchester and the Panos Institute, London.

Newswise
An on-line literacy and thinking skills resource based on topical news stories. It is designed to be used with children and young people aged between 8 and 18. It is intended that Newswise be used in the literacy hour or for English, PSE and Citizenship lessons . The site also has an online forum where children can to follow up ideas with help from experienced teachers. Each year six internet editions are available by subscription. There are 13 old editions that can be viewed free.

World Press Review
A series of discussion topics and resources for encouraging critical enquiry and thinking on issues and events covered by the global press and media. Also features the latest education news from around the world.

You think! A World Bank website with a kids section providing useful summaries of key global issues such as trade, environment and HIV/Aids. Also contains a useful glossary and audio and video clips.
